Bio
The author has a degree in Chemistry in 1978 from the University of Barcelona and a Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1980 from the same University, being the research topic during the doctorate the catalytic liquefaction of lignites. He completed a one year postdoctoral stage (1985-1986) in the Food processing Engineering Department of the University of Reading (UK), focusing on the coal desulfurization using bacteria. He is a member of the Department of the Chemical Engineering Department of the Rovira i Virgili University since 1993 and actually is full professor since 2007. Among other academic positions, he has served as Deputy Director responsible for Infrastructures of the Higher School of Chemical Engineering and as Academic Director in Chemical Engineering studies. After the initial research on coal liquefaction, he has also developed studies on the bacterial desulfurization of coal and is currently active in the simulation, control and optimization of chemical processes .
