Bio
Joan Salvadó (Vila-seca, 1958). Since 2007, Full Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, URV (Tarragona, Catalunya).
Main research activities: Energy recovery of heavy oils, photosynthetic-based renewable energies, production of binderless fiberboards (without the addition of fossil-based adhesives) and lignin upgrade and applications.
Research stages in the University of Leeds (UK, 1988), Université de Sherbrooke (Québec, CA, 1989) and National Renewable Energy Laboratory, NREL (Golden, CO, USA, 2000-2001).
Head of Biomass and Bioenergy division in the Catalonia Institute of Energy Research, IREC, (Tarragona, 2009-2017).
At Present is the head of Chemical Engineering Department at URV.
